Music Story

In Dreamworks film, the usage of the songs goes swiftly with the scene of the films. This would create part of the environment and scene where it exhibits the tone of the scene which is in the film. The instruments being used in both films create a sense of the films from the culture that they base off from like, How to train your dragons, have instruments from the Celtic culture including fiddles while Kung Fu Panda have instruments that is from the Chinese culture. In most Dreamworks film, the composer would be John Powell to show some studios around the world are willing to keep the same composer as some composers are working in harmony with the directors or companies.

How To Train Your Dragon

In this scene, the upbeat of the music created mainly by the fiddles is making the audience to realise that every little thing that hiccup would succeed as he is both training a dragon and being a Viking learning to be a dragon killer. The flutes which are used in the scene is to demonstrate the curiosity for the audience to see if the idea of the item that Hiccup made works or finds with the help from toothless.

During this scene, the music the beginning of the song with a sudden start is to show what Toothless would do, eat him alive, or keep him alive. Directly afterwards, the xylophone is played to show the slow friendship, with the music gradually becoming louder to show the friendship between Hiccup and Toothless. When the rhythm tune of the song of the movie starts to play is showing the success of them befriending each other. The fiddles reach the loudest part of the song is to show the friendship of this scene reach the highest point of friendship which. Suddenly slow down to show off they truly trust each other.

Kung Fu Panda

When the montage of the training starts, it begins with violins relating to Chinese culture with the style of music. When the flute been played it is shown to be playful and has some silliness which is displayed from DreamWorks film.  There is an inclusion of an instrument from China, the guzheng so the audience can relate the movie to the Chinese culture. The long dramatic violin and the style of Chinese are used in the scene is to show that the training of Po by Master Shifu throughout the film.This would make the audience to feel when the dramatic violin is played is that it is serious and can connect the culture that the film is based off. The flute that is used is to show the playfulness that has been depicted in the film.
